Miss is as Good as a Mile
----Truth or falsity hidden between 0 and 2
The campaign of anti-counterfeiting
is a common sight in china or all over the world, we can hear and
see the action anywhere, anytime ---- Everyone knows anti-counterfeiting,
no matter who is aged or youth. Thinking it over- truth or falsity
is just hiding in minor details!
Counterfeiting and anti-counterfeiting exists in all kinds of business
fields, of course the insurance industry. The difference between
insurance and other business fields is that the false maker of insurance
is the clients, mostly are the beneficiaries, but the anti-counterfeiting
is the investigation companies who perform insurance claim investigation.
There is a case of insurance claim that has taken place in China.
As the saying goes that if you notice everything in the world, then
you will get the knowledge out from the books.
One day in August 2002, several investigators of China Steele Business
Investigation Center were watching an insurant's funeral CD that
was offered by an insurance beneficiary. Mr. Wang was died at a
little village of X city X province on Feb 12, 2000. According to
the CD, he was died 39 years old (in fact he was 37 when he left
the world). In the 1990s, he was tempted by the gold fever in United
States, and became a stowaway went to the United States. The life
of stowaway in United States is miserable ----hungry, poverty, even
be driven from pillar to post. But fortunately he got the green
card after suffered all of these hardness. However in 1999, Mr.
Wang was diagnosed that he was cancered, because of the financial
problem, he finally came back to homeland in Jan 2000. The short
treatment of one month declared the fails, then he left the world
on Feb 12,2000.
His life ended, but his wife and children are till living, half
years later, Mr. Wang' s wife went to America with two children,
Then Mr. Wang' s wife bought him the insurance, in order to get
the insurance, " Mr. Wang had to die two years later ".
One day in July, Steele Business Investigation Center accepted American
insurance agency' s commission, to verify this death case but just
with a death certificate, the limited information stopped investigation
process. The simple death certificate was the only stonecutter to
continue the case, so it demanded that our investigators must be
very cautious! After the cautious previous planning, we made the
death verification successfully.
The verification was continued by scheme, but the result was unexpected.
The notarial deed that had made by the local Notarial Office was
a forged one; the cremation number also was forged; even if the
information offered by interviewees were not verities.
During the investigation, the investigators got Mr. Wang' s cremation
number from the Notarial Office, and took it to the funeral home,
but got an answer that it is a forged one, they never have such
a number, which is beginning with "X". The investigators
checked the funeral records unsuccessfully according to the death
date of the Notarization, and they didn't find any records on Mr.
Wang' s cremation during the period from Dec 25, 2001 to July 2002.
After making a scrutiny to the records of Feb 12, finally they found
Mr. Wang was died on Feb 12, 2000, two years earlier than the death
date recorded on notarial deed.
The investigators contacted the man who made notarization for Mr.
Wang, he said firmly that the decedent was died on Feb 12,2002,
even he could afford the CD of the decedent' s funeral (but finally
the investigators discovered that the tape also was a forged one
just for insurance claim). However, he didn't mention the notarial
deed he had made, only told the investigators about Mr. Wang's wife
and children live hardly in USA ---- two children are students;
and they have no any relatives in china, so he helped them make
the notarial deed sympathetically. Finally he afforded the death
certificate and cremation certificate reluctantly and the investigators
found that the date on cremation certificate was Feb 12, 2000, which
is same with our investigative result, but the date on death certificate
was Feb 12,2002. Eventually the guy had to tell us the reason that
Mr. Wang was dead on Feb 12, 2000, but to get the insurance they
changed the date on Feb 12, 2002, or they couldn't get the insurance.
During the contact with several interviewees, the investigators
found their answers were ambiguous. One of them said that Mr. Wang
had no any relatives except his gawkish father, but when the investigators
contacted with Mr. Wang' s elder brother got a clue that he has
a sister; one of interviewees even said that Mr. Wang actually died
on Feb 12, 2002, but another one also made sure that Mr. Wang died
on Feb 12, 2000, only 37 years old. Could one person die two times?
During the investigation, one person offered two different cremation
numbers. How could a man die two times?
It is impossible to a person that live twice in the world. Mr. Wang'
s Life was frustrated enough; so don't disturb him after he had
died! Game is over, but the live of the decedent' s wife and children
will be pitifully after the fail of the insurance claim. But the
eagle-eyed investigators can't miss anything that was forged!
